Working Together We Tackle Utah's Noxious Weed Problems

Northern Utah CWMA

We are Northern Utah CWMA

The mission of the Northern Utah Cooperative Weed Management Area is to facilitate the collaboration between stakeholders within the northern Utah region for the purpose of increasing the identification and control of noxious weeds.Â

We believe that -together- we can protect and improve Utah’s natural resources.

Full scale collaboration

Weed control is one of the most expensive aspects of land management. When both public and private landowners contribute to controlling weeds on their lands, these costs can be greatly reduced over time and lands impacted by noxious weeds can recover.Â

Private Landowners

Our private partners are valuable members within our CWMA. Due to government entities often being limited in personnel, our private partners are able to identify new noxious weed populations before agency employees can. They are also able to use their perspectives to provide insight on how the NUWCMA can best help the citizens within its region.

Counties

Local county representatives, often in the form of noxious weed department supervisors, are one of the most important parts to a CWMA. Because their management area is the entirety of their county, regardless of ownership, they are able to provide invaluable insights. They are also able to help make the connection between large agencies and the private landowners.

State Agencies

Representatives from various State of Utah agencies bring a wealth of knowledge to the table; many of them have both the experience and the data to help aid in planning projects.Â

Federal Agencies

Without federal agency partners, there would be limitations to the extent of work we are able to do. Like many other western states, Utah contains countless acres of federal land. The federal partners within the Northern Utah CWMA are able to open up those areas to treatment, and often provide the funding to do so.
